Home & Financial Safety

🏠 Home Safety Tips

  • Lock Smart: Install peepholes, door chains, and smart doorbells. Never open door to strangers.
  • Emergency Contacts: Keep printed list of emergency numbers (14567, 112, family) near phone or fridge.
  • Anti-Slip Measures: Use non-slip mats in bathroom, remove loose rugs, install grab bars.
  • Light It Up: Motion-sensor lights outside, night lamps in hallways and bathrooms.
  • Check-Ins: Register for free monthly wellness calls via National Elder Line (14567).
  • Trusted Network: Share spare key only with trusted neighbor or relative — not domestic help.

💰 Financial Safety Tips

  • Never Share OTPs/PINs: Banks & govt never ask for these. If asked — it’s a scam.
  • Joint Account Caution: Avoid adding non-family members. Use “either-or-survivor” only with trusted children.
  • Property Papers: Never sign documents without reading or consulting lawyer/friend.
  • Pension Safety: Use direct bank deposit. Avoid handing over passbook/ATM card to anyone.
  • Verify Caregivers: Demand police verification and 2 references before hiring.
  • Report Fraud Immediately: Call Cyber Crime Helpline 1930 or visit cybercrime.gov.in
